“After a kid has a few sips of Chianti, you see them lock in,” says Gino Ganoosh, President of the Wildwood Bocce Club. Mr. Ganoosh recently launched a day camp for kids, teaching them how to play Bocce and other traditional Italian games.

“We cover the ground rules and proper technique in Bocce. I wouldn’t say we follow a strict schedule, but most days go something like this:

  • Scones and Espresso

  • Practice

  • Wine & Cheese

  • Intimidation Techniques

  • Smoke Break

  • Tournament

  • Settle All Bets (No IOUs – Cash Only)

  • Hug It Out

…and everybody gets a friggin’ tank top.”

The slogans on the camp tank tops have raised concerns among some parents. Phrases like Bocce Is Underhanded Like Your Mom and Sharing Is Weakness left many considering withdrawing their children.

However, the kids remain enthusiastic about Bocce Camp and Mr. Ganoosh, whom they affectionately call “Giga.”

“Every day, Ricky comes home with a new gold chain, and his language has become atrocious, but he genuinely loves those dagos,” says Mary Magdelena of Crocus Lane.
